Relaxation Massage Adelaide

Unwind, de-stress, and reset your body and mind

Relaxation massage is a gentle, flowing treatment designed to help you slow down, switch off, and feel better both physically and mentally.

At Active Balance, our relaxation massage sessions are focused on creating a calm, comfortable experience while helping to ease general muscle tension, reduce stress, and support overall wellbeing. If life feels busy, overwhelming, or physically draining, this is your time to pause and recharge.

What is Relaxation Massage?

Relaxation massage uses smooth, rhythmic techniques and light-to-moderate pressure to calm the nervous system and promote a sense of ease throughout the body.

Unlike more targeted or clinical treatments like myotherapy or deep tissue massage, the focus here is not on specific injuries — but on helping your whole body relax and recover.

FAQs

Is relaxation massage gentle?
Yes — relaxation massage uses light to moderate pressure and is designed to be calming rather than intense. Pressure can be adjusted slightly, but it won’t generally be as firm as deep tissue massage.

Can I request firmer pressure?
We can increase pressure slightly if you prefer, but if you’re after a stronger, more targeted treatment, deep tissue massage or remedial massage may be a better fit.

Can relaxation massage help with pain?
It can help with mild tension-related discomfort, especially when stress is contributing. For ongoing pain or injuries, physio or myotherapy is usually more appropriate.

How often should I book relaxation massage?
This depends on your needs. Some people book weekly or fortnightly for stress management, while others come monthly or as needed.

Do I need to talk during the session?
Not at all. Many people prefer to relax quietly. Your therapist will check in as needed, but this is your time to switch off.

What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing. You’ll be appropriately covered during treatment, with only the area being worked on exposed.

Brooke Knowles

Remedial Massage Therapist (Diploma of Remedial Massage)

Brooke is a remedial massage therapist with a deep passion for helping people find genuine relief from pain.

Brooke’s journey into this work began through working in personal training, but after experiencing a back injury herself, she was introduced to many different forms of pain management. Remedial massage played a huge role in her own recovery and pain relief, and it was through this experience that she felt called to help others in the same way.

Brooke takes an intuitive, personalised approach to each treatment, focusing not only on physical relief but also on the connection between the body, mind, and emotions. Brooke strongly believes that through a combination of movement and massage, both mental and emotional wellbeing can significantly improve.

Outside the treatment room, you’ll find Brooke cooking, at the gym, travelling or unwinding with a true crime doco.
