FAQs

What’s the difference between myotherapy and massage?
Myotherapy is a more clinical, assessment-based treatment. Treatment may include hands-on techniques like massage, but also dry needling, joint mobilisation, and exercise rehab.

Do I need a referral for myotherapy?
No, you can book directly without a referral.

Will I be given exercises or a rehab plan?
In many cases, yes.  This might include simple exercises, movement advice, or load management strategies tailored to your lifestyle or training. These are usually quick and practical so you can easily fit them into your routine.

Is dry needling included, and is it safe?
Dry needling may be used if it’s appropriate for your condition and you’re comfortable with it. It’s a safe and commonly used technique, and your practitioner will always explain it beforehand and get your consent.

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your condition, how long it’s been there, and your goals.  Some people notice improvement after 1–2 sessions, while more persistent or complex issues may take a few more.

What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to expose that region (e.g. shoulder, back, or leg), but your comfort and privacy are always prioritised.
